More to come...

I know, I know, it has been quite some time since a new post. But I have an excuse! My calling in our ward for those of you that don't know, is Scout and Cub Committee Chairman. Most of you probably don't have any idea what that calling involves and neither did I, until I started doing it. It has been a good though. I have learned a lot and when it comes time for my boys to be in scouts, I might be of some good. But with the Cubs, we just had our annual Blue and Gold Banquet. Sorry, no pictures. I thought about it, but then once I got there and we were having electrical problems, someone was stuck at Costco with half our program and part of dinner, somehow taking a picture slipped my mind. But it is over! It went well and that has basically absorbed all my free time for the last few weeks.
So until the next, hopefully more exciting post, this will have to do. I will try to spice up our lives a little so we have fun things to post about. Hurray for spring!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I want holidays to be fun at our house, but what to do with two little boys on Valentine's Day? Little girls, I would assume, would love the pink, the hearts and all the frill. But little boys, definitely my wild and crazy little boys, could care less. So we compromised. We had a balloon extravaganza, that most kids would love, but the balloons were Valentine colors. And we made the traditional holiday sugar cookies with my mom. She does a good job of letting Ty get truly involved and by the end he has tasted most the cookies he's decorated and he's wearing everything. She is a very good Grandma. We don't have pictures of that, but here are a few of our balloon bash!

We hope everyone enjoyed Valentine's Day as much as our little family did.

Ty loved running and jumping into a pile of balloons and watching them go everywhere.

Jordo had just woken up and was trying to take it all in.We put all the balloons into the corner and made our own balloon pit. Two days later, Ty is still jumping into it and burying himself and then finding himself again! He jumps out and yells, "Oh, here I am Mommy!"

New Things Everyday!

My boys are at such fun ages. Ty learns to be more independent and Jordan discovers something new every day. I love watching them as their little minds are working and figuring out life.

Jordo is learning to stand alone! I left the other night to have a night out with some friends and Kev got the boys. He walked in the bedroom to find Jordo standing there, all alone. He pulled himself up, let go and stood there and all by himself! (Of course he did it while I was gone.) We are one step closer to walking, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but still fun.
Ty's latest discovery is the kitchen sink. He asks twenty times a day if he can 'play in the water'. He pushes a chair up, I plug one sink and fill it with some water, and then he uses whatever he can find to dump and fill and make all sorts of things. One thing he does make is a MESS. He is usually soaked and my counter and sometimes the floor are plenty wet too. In search of a solution, I found this apron from when I was at hair school, which is plastic, so it keeps him dry. And the more he does it the better he gets at keeping the water in the sink, plus, it entertains forever! So it has been a good thing for both of us. Maybe soon he'll understand rinsing and washing dishes.

Hello, Mr. Potato Head

Kids have a tendency to get sick of their toys very quickly. So the ones they are bored of get stuck in the bottom of the toy box and forgotten. And then one day, they are found again and it is like a brand new toy! This is what happened with Mr. Potato Head. But he was more than a toy, it was like he had found a long lost friend.
He played with him and almost nothing else. He became very protective when Jordo would come too close and we even had a few tears when Jordo got a hold of one of his arms, Ty was very worried. (Yes, Ty is wearing Potato Head's glasses- it was like he could see what he was he was doing better.)

Ty showing off his newest accessory.

Lately, Ty has needed animals on his drawers while he naps and sleeps at night. They are almost a comfort to him. He is very particular about how they are positioned and chooses specific ones for the day. When Potato Head was brought back to life, he got the honorary spot, giving the animals the boot. At least for a few days. That's saying a lot about the affection Ty has for a toy.
I wonder which toy will be lost and found again another day.
